Every student in consumer affairs completes a professional internship. You will need to start the application process to complete an internship in consumer affairs the semester before you plan on registering for CA 4301 Internship in Consumer Affairs by contacting Dr. Kim Davis (kim.davis@txstate.edu) The application process takes approximately four weeks.

 

Expectations

150 Hours. Each intern must complete 150 hours for the internship. All 150 hours must be completed between the official dates of the term (May 27th to August 1st). Students who cannot document 150 hours by the end of the 10-week term will recieve an ā€œFā€ regardless of scores on other assignments. 

Absolutely no grades of ā€œIā€ (incomplete) will be granted.

Be sure that your company/organization can guarantee a minimum of 150 hours of work in the required time frame before you commit yourself to their internship program. Any hours completed prior to the beginning of the semester you are registered for will not count toward the 150 hours. This is a matter of liability on the part of Texas State University.

Family Members. Students will NOT be permitted to complete an internship under the supervision of a family member.

New Responsibilites. If the student is already employed by ther internship site, the responsibilites during the internship must be substantially different from current responsibilities . The Intership Supervisor (Dr. Davis) will visit with the Site Mentor to ensure the intership will consist of a new learning opportunities.

Modules. The assignments in this course will be found under the Modules tab in the course Canvas site and in Assignments, Quizzes, and Discussions tab.

It is your responsibility to be aware of the timelines and deadlines for this course. All work is posted on the modules page of the Canvas site for the course. This will include due dates. The modules page services as the course calender. 

Graded assignments and projects for points must be submitted on the due date by 11:59 p.m.

  • No work will be accepted late without communication with the instructor prior to the due date and time.
  • All work to be graded must be submitted through the Canvas siite.\

Don't wait until the last minute to do work that is to be turned in. Technology does not work as your expect. Technology glitches such as , but not limited to, Wifi, computer, Canvas issue will not be accepted.
