There is a huge demand for family and consumer sciences educators in secondary schools, extensions, and higher education. It is important to note that there is a nationwide shortage of FCS Teachers.
Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher Concentration is a broad program including preparation in specific subject matter areas of family and consumer sciences and teaching. FCS Teacher focus on teaching child development, families, communications, food and nutrition, personal finances, housing, fashion and textiles in middle and high schools. These teachers make a difference in the lives of individuals , families and communities. This major prepares students to get certified to be an FCS Teacher.
