FM 3334 Merchandising Administration

FM 3334 is a career-focused course within the Texas State University Fashion Merchandising program designed to equip students with the professional tools needed to succeed in the fashion industry. Through hands-on assignments and guided instruction, students learn how to navigate the early stages of their careers with confidence and clarity.

A major focus of the course is resume development. Students are taught how to build, refine, and tailor their resumes to reflect both their personal brand and the expectations of top fashion employers. From formatting and language to highlighting relevant experience, FM 3334 helps students transform a basic resume into a polished, industry-ready document.

Beyond resumes, the course also prepares students to pitch themselves for internship opportunities. Whether at networking events, career fairs, or through direct outreach, students learn how to confidently communicate their skills, experiences, and goals. A strong, well-crafted resume becomes a key tool in this process, serving as both a first impression and a foundation for meaningful professional conversations.

By the end of FM 3334, students are not only prepared, but they are positioned to stand out.

Internship Approval

Summer 2026

It is great that you are ready to take your internship! Fashion Merchandising is following the policy of all the other programs in the School of FCS and taking steps to determine prior to enrollment that students already have secured an internship that is suitable for the course.

For Summer 2026, we are using a departmental override approval process to ensure that students who enroll in FM4301 Internship have a qualified internship before they enroll.

You will also be required to complete paperwork and submit it PRIOR to the first day of class. If you don’t complete the paperwork, you will be dropped from the class before the class starts.

Completing all required documentation before beginning your internship is essential to ensure a safe, successful, and legally compliant experience. These documents help the university verify your eligibility, secure your placement, and establish clear expectations between you, your internship site, and the institution.

Internship Proposal & Required Documentation

All students enrolled in FM4301 Internship are required to complete and submit the Internship Documentation Package with the following documents:
  • An Internship Proposal Form

  • If the company does not have an official description, please work with your supervisor to create one.

You will need to give all of this documentation to your instructor as a single PDF document.
