American Society of Interior Designers

Founded in 1975, the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) is the oldest, largest and leading professional organization for interior designers.

ASID is a community of people driven by a common love for design and committeed to the belief that interior design, as a service to people, is a powerful, multi-faceted profession that can positively change people's lives.  ASID inspires and enriches its members by promoting the value of interior design, while providing indispensable knowledge and experiences that build relationships.  Of the society's 20,000 practicing interior designers, 6,500 practice primarily in the commercial field with 4,000 practicing primarily as residential designers; the remaining 9,500 work in both commercial and residential design.  ASID now has 48 chapters throughout the United States and Canada, (including the Texas chapter).

ASID currently has over 300 Student Chapters nation wide.  The student chapter of ASID at Texas State University-San Marcos has grown tremendously in the past four years and is very active.  The chapter is the proud recipient of the nationwide ASID 2007 Outstanding Student Chapter of the Year award.  This award recognizes a single student chapter that has provided exceptional service to its student members, professional associates and community.
